A historic mansion in one of San Francisco’s wealthiest neighborhoods has sold for just shy of $10 million to the government of Algeria.
The buyer is listed in property records as the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria, which opened a consulate in the California city at the end of last year. It isn’t known yet what the Algerian government plans to use the property for, according to buyer’s agent Daria Saraf of Sotheby’s International Realty.
